Sembria

Bordobria

The original copper fungicide — still the standard for dormant and winter programmes.

Metallic copper (Cu) 20% w/w
Bordobria — WP - Wettable Powder — Sembria

Bordobria is Bordeaux mixture supplying 20% metallic copper as a wettable powder. It is the oldest fungicide still in commercial use, and it has survived because nothing has replaced what it does: a tenacious protective deposit that resists weathering far better than modern coppers, which makes it the product of choice for high-rate dormant and winter applications on vine, pome and stone fruit. Supplied in 10 kg — the pack size those programmes require.

Characteristics

  • Exceptionally weather-resistant protective deposit
  • The reference product for dormant and winter applications
  • Registered at both winter (high) and summer (low) rates on vine
  • Multi-site activity — no practical resistance risk
  • Broad label: vineyard, apple, peach, olive, apricot, tomato
  • 10 kg pack sized for high-rate orchard and vineyard programmes

How it works

Copper ions released from the mixture denature fungal proteins and disrupt enzyme systems at multiple sites, preventing spore germination on the plant surface. The calcium hydroxide component neutralises free copper and makes the deposit both safer to the plant and more persistent against rain. Purely protective — apply before infection. FRAC Group M1.

Application

How to apply

Peach leaf curl: apply as buds start to swell. Apricot shot hole: first immediately after leaf drop in autumn, second before flower buds open at the pink bud stage, third when sepals and stamens are removed from the fruit tip. Tomato late blight: start when brown lesions with white sporulation appear on the leaf underside. Olive peacock spot: timing varies by region — Marmara, first just before autumn shoots, second after floral buds are visible before flowers open, third at 25-30 cm shoots; Aegean, first just before spring shoots, second after floral buds visible; Mediterranean, first after harvest, second just before spring shoots, third after floral buds visible. Vineyard downy mildew: first at 25-30 cm shoot length, then every 15 days while conditions favour infection. Vineyard dead arm: winter application immediately before buds wake after pruning; summer applications at 2-3 cm and 8-10 cm shoot length. Apple scab: first when flower buds swell (3-5 days before bud burst), second at pink bud, third at 70-80% petal fall, then every 15 days while conditions suit.

Compatibility

Use alone. Do not mix with insecticides, fungicides, plant growth regulators or any other product. Do not leave the mixture standing in the sprayer.

Always carry out a compatibility test before preparing a tank mixture.

Safety and handling

Causes serious eye damage; harmful if inhaled. Very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Harmful to bees — do not apply during flowering. Toxic to fish — do not contaminate water sources.
