Quant Cal-CL
Nitrogen-free calcium — for the moment when you want firmness without growth.
Quant Cal-Cl is soluble calcium chloride, the calcium source for situations where nitrogen would work against you. Late in the season, and above all in post-harvest dipping and pre-harvest sprays on apple, nitrate calcium would push soft growth and delay maturity. Calcium chloride supplies the calcium alone — firming the fruit, reducing bitter pit and extending storage life.

How it works
Calcium fixes into the cell wall as calcium pectate and gives the tissue its mechanical strength. Because it moves in the transpiration stream and barely at all in the phloem, fruit — which transpires little — is chronically short of it. Direct application to the fruit surface late in the season is the only reliable way to raise its calcium content.
