Spirotembria
The only insecticide here that travels down to the roots as well as up.

Spirotembria is based on spirotetramat, and its distinguishing feature is two-way systemic movement: it travels both up in the xylem and down in the phloem. A foliar spray therefore reaches sucking pests on parts of the plant the spray never touched — including root mealybug and scale under bark. Against psyllids, aphids, mealybug and scale, that reach is worth more than knockdown speed.
Characteristics
- True two-way systemic movement — reaches roots and hidden tissue from a foliar spray
- Excellent on psyllids, aphids, mealybug and scale insects
- Controls pests sheltering under bark and below ground
- IRAC Group 23 — a lipid biosynthesis inhibitor
- Comparatively soft on many beneficial insects
- Effective on immature stages and reduces female fecundity
How it works
Spirotetramat inhibits acetyl-CoA carboxylase and blocks lipid biosynthesis. Immature insects cannot develop and adult females produce far fewer viable offspring. Its phloem mobility is what sets it apart — most systemics move only upward. Effect builds over days rather than hours. IRAC Group 23.
